Find the pain, Look elsewhere for the cause
In Consideration of pain
Pain science is a complex field and there are many known and unknown reasons for pain. One thing that has become clear through experience over the past decade, is that pain is often just a symptom that something is wrong. An alert system for the brain. One that can go completely haywire, so that the pain itself is responsible for more pain as the body becomes overly sensitized to low level stimulus. That isn't to say that pain should be ignored or endured. Conversely, we can use pain to measure progress and to guide treatment strategies.
Through movement assessment, it is possible to classify areas of the body as "tight" or "weak".
- "Tightness" points to a joint mobility dysfunction and/or tissue extensibility dysfunction.
- "Weakness" points to a stability and/or motor control issue.
The treatment for each looks very different. In some cases, you'll be spending more time on the treatment table, and others, you'll be engaged in some sort of movement/exercise program. In cases with more positive outcomes, both movement and manual therapy are key parts to recovery. Science shows that myofascial release among other therapies are successful at relieving pain & restoring restricted movement, but that improving movement patterns post-treatment yields the best results. Active engagement in manual therapy and movement practice helps to break pain cycles and maintain results.

Movement Assessment
Moving is the most fundamental way you interact with your environment, and is essential to participation in life. Begin with an assessment to help pinpoint the source of your pain and/or dysfunction.
Fascial Therapy
Fascia is the connective tissue that connects us from head to toe. It surrounds every muscle fiber, organ, and structure of our body. It's also highly connected to pain conditions.
Breath Training
Breath holding and incorrect breathing can have a surprising impact on pain conditions, energy levels, sleep quality, and even teeth/mouth development. The strength of your respiratory system can also act as a protective measure against COVID-19

Who I work with
Everyone has fascial restrictions & could benefit from treatment. I specialize in the aging population (40+) who tend to have aches and pains from daily life.
My services fall under the umbrella of prevention and wellness. Please see a medical doctor if you suspect acute injury or illness. Post-surgical clients need to be cleared for exercise and/or bodywork by their doctor or physical therapist.
The number one reason why someone usually comes to see me is persistent pain or stiffness which limits their ability to move. I do see some athletes for post-event recovery too. My clients have a wide range of physical conditions and abilities, and we creatively problem solve aspects of their treatment to meet their needs.
